Regular Season Round 11: Al Safa - Al Khaleej 88-91

A very close game took place in Safwa (derby !!!) betweenAl Khaleej and Al Safa . Eighth ranked Al Khaleej (4-7) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Al Safa (3-8). Al Khaleej managed to escape with a 3-point win 91-88 in the fight for the eighth place. Al Khaleej shot 29 for 41 from the free-throw line, while Al Safa only scored twelve points from the stripe. Al Khaleej had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Congolese-French forward Nobel Boungou-Colo (202-1988) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. The former international forward Mohammed Almutairi (193-1992) helped adding 29 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Dallas Morgan (185, college: CMU) responded with 29 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and the other American import forward Dikembe Dixson (201-1996, college: UIC) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Four Al Safa players scored in double figures. Al Safa's coach Vanja Gusa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Al Khaleej maintains eighth place with 4-7 record. Al Safa lost third consecutive game. Al Safa at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Al Salam.
