Regular Season Round 1: Fubon Braves - Chiba Jets 82-85

A very close game took place in Taipei between Japanese Chiba Jets and Taiwanese Fubon Braves. Chiba Jets got a very close victory on the road over Fubon Braves. Chiba Jets managed to escape with a 3-point win 85-82 on Wednesday evening. Chiba Jets forced 19 Fubon Braves turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chiba Jets made 7 blocks. Point guard Yuki Togashi (170-1993) stepped up and scored 38 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American forward Justyn Mutts (201-1999, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 21 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Michael Singletary (198-1988, college: Texas Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and the other American import guard Sedrick Barefield (188-1996, college: Utah) scored 19 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Chiba Jets will meet TNT Tropang in the next round. Fubon Braves will play against Anyang and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
