Qualifying Round Round 9: Orthodox - Zob Ahan 86-82

The game between third ranked Iranian Zob Ahan (3-2) and fifth ranked Jordanian Orthodox (3-3) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Zob Ahan was defeated by Orthodox in a tough game in Amman 82-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zob Ahan. Orthodox looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Darrin Dorsey (188-1987, college: DWU, agency: Diamond Sports) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 assists. His fellow American import power forward Brandon Peterson (203-1990, college: Arkansas St., agency: Diamond Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-1990) who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian-Iranian guard Amir Gholizadeh (198, college: Tallahassee) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Zob Ahan players scored in double figures. Orthodox moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Al-Manama and Kazma. Zob Ahan at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Al Riyadi.
