Al Sadd conquered the Qatari Cup title. They stormed past Al Rayyan in the championship game. Al Sadd dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Al Rayyan's 24. They outrebounded Al Rayyan 48-31 including a 38-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Sadd looked well-organized offensively handing out 48 assists comparing to just 31 passes made by Al Rayyan's players. 27 personal fouls committed by Al Rayyan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-German forward Waverly Austin (211-1991, college: Oregon) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 17 rebounds, 17 assists and 4 blocks for the winners and American Vander Blue (196-1992, college: Marquette) chipped in 23 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Four Al Sadd players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Mario Little (198-1987, college: Kansas) responded with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals and Ibrahima Seck scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Al Rayyan's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win.
