Regular Season Round 6: Saigon Heat - HK Eastern 82-89

Very significant was Hong Kong HK Eastern's (#1) 89-82 road victory against second-best Vietnamese Heat. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Heat 37-15 including a 28-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. HK Eastern players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Heat's players. Canadian center Chris McLaughlin (208, college: Victoria) notched a double-double by scoring 31 points and 18 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Croatian-Australian swingman Dominic Gilbert (198, college: UBC, agency: BIG) supported him with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 24 points by American JR Holder (198-1994, college: Jacksonville) did not help to save the game for Heat. His fellow American import forward Hassan Thomas (203-1996, college: Emporia St.) added 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Heat players scored in double figures. HK Eastern maintains first position with 6-1 record. Defending Vietnamese champion Heat keeps the second place with two games lost. They share the position with NS Matrix. HK Eastern will play against NS Matrix (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Heat will play against Valientes in Zamboanga City and hopes to get back on the winning track.
