Qualifying Round Round 3: Gorgan - Al Naft 110-69

Very important is a road loss of Iraqi Al Naft (1-2) against Iranian Gorgan (2-1) on Wednesday night. Visiting Al Naft was crushed by Gorgan in Gorgan 110-69. Gorgan dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Al Naft's 44. They outrebounded Al Naft 53-27 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gorgan looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Mohammad Jamshidi (199-1991, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Parrish Petty (185-1988, college: UTRGV) helped adding 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Petty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Gorgan players scored in double figures. Gorgan's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Antwaine Wiggins (203-1988, college: Charleston, agency: BIG) with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and American-Dominican forward Edgar Sosa (190-1988, college: Louisville) scored 24 points and 6 assists. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
