Qualifying Round Round 1: Kuwait - Al Sadd 99-93

Kuwait used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Doha 99-93 on Tuesday night. Kuwait forced 20 Al Sadd turnovers. Haitian center Cady Lalanne (208-1992, college: UMass, agency: BeoBasket) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winning side and Georgian-American point guard Jacob Pullen (183-1989, college: Kansas St., agency: AltusBasket) accounted for 22 points and 6 assists. Kuwait's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-German forward Waverly Austin (211-1991, college: Oregon) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks and American Vander Blue (196-1992, college: Marquette) added 17 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals respectively for Al Sadd in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kuwait will meet Al-Manama in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Al Sadd will play against Al Nassr in Riyadh and hope to win that game.
