Regular Season Round 12: Al Taawoun - Al Ansar 112-92
Date: December 9, 2022
Bottom-ranked Al Taawoun managed to get a second victory, breaking the nine-game losing streak. This time newly promoted Al Taawoun outleveled eleventh-ranked Al Ansar 112-92. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference suggests that Al Taawoun is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They were well out of reach of Al Ansar shooting 72.4 percent from the field and made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Al Ansar 29-13 including a 24-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Al Taawoun especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. It was a good game for American Justin Tuoyo (208-1994, college: Chattanooga) who led his team to a victory with 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Darious Clark (193-1990, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Domantay Sports) contributed with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Clark is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Al Taawoun players scored in double figures. Guard Salman Almoulad replied with 24 points and American forward Gerard Tarin (206-1996, college: Nova SE) added 24 points in the effort for Al Ansar. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al Taawoun (2-10) moved-up to eleventh place. Al Ansar lost eleventh consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. Al Taawoun will play against higher ranked Deba (#8) in Tabuk in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Al Ansar will play at home against Al Salam (#9) to get more than just one victory in their record.
