FE Nagoya defeated Sendai 89ers in the Finals opener. Sendai 89ers trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 22-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-81 at the end of the game. FE Nagoya looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Scootie Randall (198-1990, college: Temple) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Jeremy Jones (201-1996, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and Devin Oliver (204-1992, college: Dayton) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
