Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneers' 48 and made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Pioneers 44-32 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guandong Tigers players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. Pioneers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international power forward Jianlian Yi (212-1987) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Sonny Weems (198-1986, college: Arkansas) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists during the contest. American point guard Kenny Boynton (188-1991, college: Florida) responded with 25 points and 5 assists and Taiwanese guard Benson Lin (193-1999, college: Bryant) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Guandong Tigers and five Pioneers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
