Regular Season Round 22: Chanson V-M - Hitachi Cougars 72-67

There was no surprise in Shizuoka where 9th ranked Hitachi Cougars (7-13) were defeated by fifth ranked Chanson V-M (12-12) 72-67 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Chanson V-M dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Swingman Mai Yoshida (175-1998) fired 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Kuke Haruka (166-1995) chipped in 7 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. The former international center Rika Tanimura (185-1993) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Shirashi Ikuri (172-1994) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Hitachi Cougars players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Chanson V-M went down to sixth position due to points difference. Hitachi Cougars lost twelfth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 13 games lost. Chanson V-M are again looking forward to face Hitachi Cougars (#8) in Hitachinaka in the next round. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round.
