Regular Season Round 15: Al Nasr - Duba Club 101-53
Date: January 14, 2022
There was no surprise in Riyadh where 11th ranked Duba Club (2-13) was crushed by second ranked Al Nasr (13-2) 101-53 on Friday. Al Nasr dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Duba Club's 34. Al Nasr forced 22 Duba Club turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international guard Khalid Abdel-Gabar (188-90, college: Windsor) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field). American power forward Chris Johnson (210-85, college: LSU) helped adding 24 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American center Jarred Shaw (208-90, college: Utah St.) with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Swedish point guard Rami Ghanem (185-93, college: Keyano) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Al Nasr. Defending champion maintains second place with 13-2 record behind leader Al Hilal. Newly promoted Duba Club dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Al Nahda. Al Nasr will meet Ohod (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Duba Club will play against Al Ansar (#7) and hope to secure a win.
