Regular Season Round 18: SK Knights - Anyang KGC 99-112

Date: December 16, 2021
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Seoul where second-best SK Knights (15-7) were defeated by third ranked Anyang KGC (13-8) 112-99 on Thursday. Anyang KGC made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. American Omari Spellman (207-97, college: Villanova) scored 30 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Junhyeong Byeon (186-96) chipped in 18 points and 12 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Jameel Warney (203-94, college: Stony Brook) with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international forward Youngjun An (195-95) scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Five Anyang KGC and four SK Knights players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Anyang KGC have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 13-8 record having four points less than leader KT Sonicboom. Loser SK Knights keep the second place with seven games lost. Anyang KGC will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. SK Knights will play against DB Promy in Wonju and hope to secure a win.
