Everything could happen in Mecca at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Al Wehda and 6th ranked Al Salam had identical 2-3 record. This time Al Wehda used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Al-Awamiyah 103-68 on Friday night. Al Wehda dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Al Salam's 32. They outrebounded Al Salam 47-35 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Wehda looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Al Salam's players. The former international center Mohammed AlMarwani (206-89) had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Egyptian guard Ramy Gunday (185-81) chipped in 15 points and 11 assists during the contest. Four Al Wehda players scored in double figures. Al Wehda's coach Said El Bouzidi felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American forward Nick Stover (198-93, college: USA) with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 17 rebounds and Rashad Shouri scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Al Wehda (3-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Al Ahly and Al Ansar. Newly promoted Al Salam dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Al Fateh. Al Wehda will meet Al Fateh (#8) in the next round. Al Salam will play against Al Ittihad and hope to secure a win.
