Finals Game 1: Gunma - Ibaraki R. 94-90

Gunma topped Ibaraki to take the lead in the championship series. The hosts were already 12 points ahead at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 28-19 last quarter charge of Ibaraki R. cut the lead to 94-90 at the end of the game. Gunma made 21-of-22 charity shots (95.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-89, college: Ferris St.) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!) for the winners and his fellow American import guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-90, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Four Gunma players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Atsunobu Hirao (178-89) responded with 31 points and 5 assists and American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) scored 12 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game.
