Cathay Life held off Taiyuan to take 1-0 lead in the Finals. Cathay Life outrebounded Taiyuan Textile 46-25 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Taiyuan Textile's players. The former international Yi-Xiu Zheng (178-93) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winning side and the former international Yu-Chun Chen (176-87) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Cathay Life players scored in double figures. The former international guard Hsiao-Tong Peng (168-98) came up with 19 points and 4 assists and center Wen-Yu Lin (180-95) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Taiyuan Textile in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
