Al Wehda outscored Al Fateh in the opener. Al Wehda outrebounded Al Fateh 41-30 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Al Fateh's players. American-Bahrain Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and the former international center Mohammed AlMarwani (206-89) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Al Wehda players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Brian Halums (196-97, college: UAFS) responded with 42 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Mohammed Al Saqer (179-85) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Al Fateh's coach Muris Memic tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.
