Regular Season Round 42: Koshigaya A. - Yamagata 86-93

An interesting game for Wyverns (27-26) which played road game in Tokyo against second-best Alphas (31-22). Third ranked Wyverns managed to get a 7-point victory 93-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Alphas. Strangely Koshigaya A. outrebounded Yamagata 35-22 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Yamagata shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. American TJ Holyfield (203-1995, college: Texas Tech) notched 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import James Bell (196-1992, college: Villanova, agency: Slash Sports) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds by American swingman LJ Peak (196-1996, college: Georgetown, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Koshigaya A.. Point guard Shun Matsuyama (175-1996) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Wyverns have a solid four-game winning streak. Yamagata maintains third position with 27-26 record having eleven points less than leader Chiba, which they share with Aomori W. Loser Alphas keeps the second place with 22 games lost. Yamagata will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Koshigaya A. will play against Yamagata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
