Regular Season Round 3: Al Shamal - Al Arabi 70-88
Date: March 16, 2024
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha:Al Arabi (#2) and Al Shamal (#4). Al Shamal was crushed at home by 18 points 70-88 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was a good game for American guard Walter Lemon Jr. (191-1992, college: Bradley) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Bahrain point guard Mustafa Ali (177-2002) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. American center Tyler Harris (208-1993, college: Auburn, agency: AG Sports Solutions) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Sammy Monroe (198-1985, college: Newberry) added 8 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Al Shamal. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
