Regular Season Round 38: Xinjiang - Fujian 78-73

There was no surprise in Urumqi where 13th ranked Fujian Nanan (10-19) was defeated by eighth ranked Magic Deer (18-13) 78-73 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Xinjiang looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Azura Stevens (198-1996, college: UConn) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Taiwanese Shiqing Peng (174-1991) chipped in 19 points, 5 assists and 4 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Magic Deer players scored in double figures. American center Queen Egbo (190-2000, college: Baylor) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and guard Min Fang (170-1998) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Magic Deer have a solid three-game winning streak. Xinjiang maintains eighth position with 18-13 record. Fujian lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 19 games lost. Xinjiang will meet higher ranked Guangdong (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fujian will play against the league's leader Inner M. (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
