No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Al Wakrah (5-4) beat at home 8th ranked Al Sadd (2-7) 83-74 on Wednesday. Al Wakrah outrebounded Al Sadd 43-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. Palestinian-Jordanian forward Hashem Abbaas (198-1999, college: Bridgeport) nailed 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American guard Darious Clark (193-1990, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Diamond Sports) accounted for 16 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Clark is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Al Wakrah players scored in double figures. American Darryl Owens came up with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and international forward Babacar Dieng (196-1997) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Al Sadd in the defeat. Al Wakrah moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Qatar Club and Al Gharafa. Al Sadd lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Al Wakrah will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
