Regular Season Round 9: Koshigaya A. - Chiba 80-81

Second-ranked Koshigaya A. (12-7) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Chiba (17-2) in Tokyo on Sunday. The visitors from Chiba managed to secure only one-point victory 81-80. However their fans expected easier game. Chiba looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Swingman Reo Maeda (191-1997) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 assists for the winning side and American forward Alex Davis (206-1992, college: Fresno St., agency: Diamond Sports) accounted for 22 points. American swingman LJ Peak (196-1996, college: Georgetown, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with 30 points and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Justin Harper (208-1989, college: Richmond) added 12 points respectively for Koshigaya A. in the defeat. Five Koshigaya A. players scored in double figures. Koshigaya A.'s coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Chiba. Newly promoted Chiba maintains first place with 17-2 record. Loser Koshigaya A. keeps the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Kumamoto V.. Chiba will meet Yamagata (#4) on the road in the next round. Koshigaya A. will play against Iwate and hope to secure a win.
