Regular Season Round 7: Al Wakrah - Al Sadd 79-77

Important game to mention about took place in Al Wakrah. Sixth ranked Al Wakrah (4-3) saved a 2-point derby victory at home edging 7th ranked Al Sadd (2-5) 79-77 on Saturday evening. Al Wakrah players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was an exceptional evening for guard Darious Clark (193-1990, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Diamond Sports) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Aaron Mitchell (188-1989, college: Longwood) accounted for 13 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists for the winning side. Clark is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Center Ronald Delph (213-1993, college: FAU) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds and Darryl Owens added 25 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Al Sadd in the defeat. Al Wakrah moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Qatar Club. Al Sadd lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with five games lost. Al Wakrah will play against league's second-placed Al Ahli in Doha in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Rayyan.
