There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Ibaraki R. (0-10) lost to second ranked Nagasaki (8-2) in Mito81-98 on Saturday. Nagasaki forced 19 Ibaraki R. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Nick Perkins (203-1996, college: Buffalo) supported him with 19 points. Even 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) by swingman Hayato Yamaguchi (195-1998) did not help to save the game for Ibaraki R.. Australian center Angus Brandt (208-1989, college: Oregon St.) added 10 points and 14 rebounds for lost side. Five Nagasaki and four Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains second position with 8-2 record having just three points less than leader Osaka E., which they share with Kawasaki BT. Loser Ibaraki R. still closes the standings with ten games lost. They share the position with Toyama G..
