Regular Season Round 5: Seoul Thunders - Suwon KT 87-90

The most exciting game of round 5 in the KBL took place in Seoul. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 8th rankedSamsung Thunders (2-5) to seventh ranked Sonicboom (3-3) 90-87 on Saturday evening. Sonicboom made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Samsung Thunders outrebounded Sonicboom 50-29 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sonicboom made 7 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Samsung Thunders helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American power forward Paris Bass (207-1995, college: Detroit) who scored 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. The former international center Yoongi Ha (203-1999) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five Sonicboom players scored in double figures. Jamaican center Kofi Cockburn (213-1999, college: Illinois) produced a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 19 rebounds and 6 assists and center Weon-Seok Lee (203-2000) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sonicboom moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Seoul Knights. Samsung Thunders lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with Sono SG.
