Regular Season Round 6: Kagoshima - Yamaguchi 86-57
Date: October 22, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Yamaguchi (1-5) was outscored by eighth ranked Kagoshima (4-2) in Renova 86-57 on Sunday. Kagoshima forced 19 Yamaguchi turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm, agency: Diamond Sports) notched 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the other American import Kyle Richardson (200-1991, college: Portland St.) supported him with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Kagoshima players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Deandre Abram (203-1997, college: Milwaukee) did not help to save the game for Yamaguchi. Point guard Yuuki Shigetomi (174-1998) added 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kagoshima moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Yamaguchi dropped to the fourteenth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Kagoshima will meet higher ranked Toyoda (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Yamaguchi will play against Veertien Mie (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
