Regular Season Round 2: Mitsubishi K. - Hitachi Cougars 56-85

The most surprising game was a loss of Mitsubishi K. in Nagoya on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by Hitachi Cougars 85-56. Hitachi Cougars dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Mitsubishi K.'s 30. Hitachi Cougars looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Mitsubishi K.'s players. Senegalese center Daramee Malem-Doi (187-1997) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Power forward Yuki Nakano (181-1996) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international Aya Watanabe (168-1992) replied with 18 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international Yuka Kosuge (181-1991) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Mitsubishi K.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Cougars is looking forward to face Denso I. in Kariya in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Mitsubishi K. will play on the road against Toyota BSR in Aichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
