Regular Season Round 3: Kanazawa - Tachikawa 94-72
Date: October 14, 2023
There was a surprise result when Kanazawa (1-2) rolled over Tachikawa (2-1) in Ishikawa 94-72 on Saturday. Kanazawa outrebounded Tachikawa 40-27 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Kanazawa looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian forward Stephen Hurt (211-1993, college: Kansas St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Ukrainian point guard Igor Boyarkin (182-1995, agency: BIG) accounted for 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winning side. Four Kanazawa players scored in double figures. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-1990, college: Oklahoma, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with 27 points and 6 rebounds and guard Yoshiki Ametani (190-1999) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Tachikawa in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kanazawa will again meet at home Tachikawa (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tachikawa will have a break next round.
