Regular Season Round 14: Warriors - Buffaloes 78-82
Date: July 16, 2023
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Hanoi: Buffaloes (#3) and Warriors (#4). Warriors were defeated at home 78-82 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Buffaloes forced 26 Warriors turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Warriors were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American Anthony January (204-1993, college: CSUSB, agency: Interperformances) notched 29 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American-Nigerian forward Udun Osakue (198-1992, college: SF State, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Buffaloes players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) by American power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Warriors. International Thanh Le Hieu (180-1991) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Buffaloes have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Warriors at the other side keep the fourth position with five games lost. Buffaloes will play against Wings (#5) in Ho Chi Minh in the next round. Warriors will play at home against Dragons and hope to get back on the winning track.
