Regular Season Round 4: Thunders - T-REX 97-119
Date: July 9, 2023
Another exciting game was between sixth ranked T-REX and 7th ranked Thunders where T-REX (2-2) crushed Thunders (1-3) on the road with 22-point difference 119-97. T-REX forced 21 Thunders turnovers. It was a great shooting night for T-REX especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Avery Scharer (185-1986, college: Shoreline CC) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 12 rebounds, 15 assists and 5 steals. Filipino point guard Jeff Dumelod Viernes (172-1989) contributed with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Scharer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Polish Robert Kowalczyk (202-1995) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 25 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Trent Baker (191-1996, college: CBC) added 21 points in the effort for Thunders. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. T-REX moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Pythons. Thunders lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Mammoth. T-REX will play against higher ranked SWU (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Thunders will play against the league's leader Tigers in Bangkok to get more than just one victory in their record.
