Seventh-ranked Bumi Borneo (13-11) made lots of trouble for second ranked Pelita Jaya (23-2) in Pontianak on Monday. The visitors from Jakarta managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected much easier game. Pelita Jaya outrebounded Bumi Borneo 50-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Bumi Borneo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Dashaun Wiggins (188-1991, college: Portland St.) who scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Dominique Sutton (193-1986, college: NCCU) chipped in 6 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Randy Bell (193-1998, college: Dalton St.) produced 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Cameron Ridley (206-1993, college: Texas) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Pelita Jaya have an impressive series of seventeen victories in a row. They maintain second place with 23-2 record having just one point less than leader Satria Muda. Bumi Borneo at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost.
