Iwate dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Shizuoka's 20. They outrebounded Shizuoka 38-24 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-1996, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Point guard Toshiki Yokogawa (177-1995) chipped in 16 points and 8 assists. Four Iwate players scored in double figures. American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) produced 12 points and 9 rebounds and Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
