Regular Season Round 12: Al Wakrah - Al Arabi 99-98

Important game to mention about took place in Al Wakrah. Eighth ranked Al Wakrah (4-9) saved a 1-point derby victory at home edging 5th ranked Al Arabi (5-8) 99-98 on Saturday evening. Al Wakrah made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 42 assists. The winners were led by American swingman Brandon Spearman (191-1991, college: Hawaii) who scored that evening 40 points (!!!) and 4 assists and the former international power forward Erfan Saeed (198-1983) supported him with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 blocks. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Al Wakrah's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a triple-double of 26 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists by Ousmane Dieng did not help to save the game for Al Arabi. American-Nigerian guard Kelechi Ajukwa (201-1995, college: Charlotte) added 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Al Wakrah maintains eighth position with 4-9 record. Al Arabi lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Al Ahli. Al Wakrah will play against bottom-ranked Al Khor (#9) on the road in the next round. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Sadd.
