Very expected game in Doha where 8th ranked Al Wakrah (4-9) was crushed by first ranked Al Sadd (10-3) 101-51 on Wednesday. Al Sadd dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Al Wakrah's 24. Al Sadd forced 21 Al Wakrah turnovers and outrebounded them 60-29 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 60 assists comparing to just 29 passes made by Al Wakrah's players. The best player for the winners was American-German forward Waverly Austin (211-1991, college: Oregon, agency: Diamond Sports) who had a triple-double by scoring 26 points, 16 rebounds, 16 assists and 4 blocks. American Vander Blue (196-1992, college: Marquette) chipped in 22 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Modou Ndoye who recorded 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international power forward Erfan Saeed (198-1983) added 7 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Sadd have a solid four-game winning streak. Despite that victory Al Sadd went down to third position due to points difference. Al Wakrah lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with nine games lost. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Arabi.
