Regular Season Round 54: Kyoto H. - Akita NH 75-70

There was a surprise result when seventh ranked Kyoto H. (20-33) defeated at home higher ranked Akita NH (26-27) 75-70 on Sunday. Kyoto H. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Canadian-Filipino guard Matthew Wright (193-1991, college: St.Bonaventure) notched 17 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and point guard Yoshiaki Kubota (175-1997) supported him with 17 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by American center Steve Zack (211-1992, college: La Salle) did not help to save the game for Akita NH. Turkish Kerem Kanter (207-1995, college: Xavier) added 17 points. Four Akita NH players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kyoto H. maintains seventh position with 20-33 record. Loser Akita NH keeps the third place with 27 games lost. They share the position with Tochigi Brex and Gunma CT. Kyoto H. will meet higher ranked Osaka E. (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Akita NH will play against Sendai 89ers and hope to secure a win.
