Regular Season Round 8: Qatar Club - Al Khor 73-65
Date: April 8, 2023
Bottom-ranked Al Khor is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to fifth ranked Qatar Club (5-2) 73-65 on Saturday evening. Qatar Club outrebounded Al Khor 41-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists. The winners were led by American guard Brian Halums (196-1997, college: UAFS) who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds, 16 assists and 5 steals and Serbian Dejan Janjic (198-1995) supported him with 26 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Even 24 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals by American point guard Ameer Jackson (193-1994, college: WSSU) did not help to save the game for Al Khor. His fellow American import power forward Tony Criswell (205-1991, college: Missouri) added 21 points for the guests. Qatar Club moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Arabi and Al Shamal. Loser Al Khor still closes the standings with seven games lost. Qatar Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Arabi.
