Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Doha: Al Sadd (#1) and Al Shamal (#2). Al Sadd (5-1) won against visiting Al Shamal (4-2) 92-79. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Al Sadd dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Al Shamal's 40. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 45 assists. It was a great evening for American-German forward Waverly Austin (211-1991, college: Oregon, agency: Diamond Sports) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds, 14 assists and 5 steals. American Vander Blue (196-1992, college: Marquette) helped adding 23 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals. At the losing side American guard Sindou Diallo (190, college: Montana Tech) responded with 31 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals and Palestinian-Canadian forward Shane Osayande (200-1993, college: Saskatchewan) produced a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 5-1 record. Loser Al Shamal dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Qatar Club and Al Arabi. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha .
