Regular Season Round 44: Qingdao E. - Sichuan BW 113-100

Everything went according to plan when fifteenth ranked Eagles (18-23) defeated 18th ranked Blue Whales (10-30) in Qingdao 113-100 on Sunday. Eagles outrebounded Blue Whales 52-40 including 40 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American point guard Eugene German (183-1997, college: NIU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Jiayi Zhao (205-1999) supported him with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all seven shots !!!). Even 23 points and 5 assists by American point guard Marlain Veal (175-1996, college: SE Louisiana) did not help to save the game for Blue Whales. His fellow American import guard Jordan Crawford (193-1988, college: Xavier) added 20 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Five Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Eagles moved-up to fourteenth place. Blue Whales lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighteenth position with 30 games lost. Eagles will meet higher ranked Flying Leopards (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Blue Whales will play against Guangsha Lions (#6) and hope to secure a win.
