Regular Season Round 48: Osaka E. - Kawasaki BT 88-80

Very important is a road loss of first ranked Kawasaki BT (30-17) against sixth ranked Osaka E. (21-26) on Sunday night. Visiting Kawasaki BT was defeated by Osaka E. in a tough game in Osaka 80-88. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Kawasaki BT. They outrebounded Kawasaki BT 41-30 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Osaka E. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import power forward Sean OMara (208-1995, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) supported him with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Four Osaka E. players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds by the former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-1985, college: Nevada) did not help to save the game for Kawasaki BT. American power forward Michael Young (206-1994, college: Pittsburgh) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Osaka E. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Shinshu BW. Loser Kawasaki BT still keeps top position with 17 games lost. Osaka E. will meet league's second-placed Ryukyu GK in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Kawasaki BT will play against Shinshu BW in Nagano and hope to secure a win.
