Regular Season Round 52: Yamagata - Fukushima 72-81

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Fukushima (27-27) beat on the road 6th ranked Yamagata (22-32) 81-72 on Sunday. The winners were led by Naoaki Hashimoto (183-1992) who scored that evening 23 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Addison Spruill (195-1993, college: UNCW) supported him with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Fukushima players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 10 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists by American center Thomas Welsh (213-1996, college: UCLA, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Yamagata. American-Panamanian center Javier Carter (203-1991, college: USA, agency: Slash Sports) added 12 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fukushima maintains third position with 27-27 record having thirteen points less than leader Chiba, which they share with Nishinomiya S. Loser Yamagata keeps the sixth place with 32 games lost. Fukushima will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Yamagata will play against Kagawa FA (#7) in Takamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
