Very expected game when 8th ranked Heroes (23-19) lost to second ranked Guandong Tigers (32-8) in Dongguan 93-102 on Sunday. Guandong Tigers made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game. Guandong Tigers outrebounded Heroes 50-34 including 38 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The winners were led by American MarShon Brooks (197-1989, college: Providence) who scored that evening 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and international point guard Jie Xu (181-2000) supported him with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. Even 27 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Troy Gillenwater (205-1988, college: NM State) did not help to save the game for Heroes. The former international Cheng Jia (209-1991) added 19 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Heroes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Guandong Tigers maintains second position with 32-8 record having just two points less than leader Zhejiang GB. Loser Heroes keep the eighth place with 19 games lost. Guandong Tigers will meet at home Flying Tigers (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Heroes will play against the league's leader Golden Bulls and hope to secure a win.
