Regular Season Round 51: Yamagata - Fukushima 82-74

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Fukushima (26-27) against sixth ranked Yamagata (22-31) on Saturday night. Visiting Fukushima was defeated by Yamagata in a tough game in Yamagata 74-82. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Fukushima. Yamagata looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American James Bell (196-1992, college: Villanova, agency: Slash Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). His fellow American import center Thomas Welsh (213-1996, college: UCLA, agency: Pensack Sports) helped adding 10 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Josh Harrellson (208-1989, college: Kentucky) with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-1990, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Yamagata maintains sixth place with 22-31 record. Loser Fukushima keeps the third position with 27 games lost. They share it with Nishinomiya S.. Yamagata will again meet at home higher ranked Fukushima (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fukushima will have a break next round.
