Regular Season Round 22: Al Taawoun - Al Wehda 97-69
Date: March 31, 2023
Bottom-ranked Al Taawoun managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the five-game losing streak. This time newly promoted Al Taawoun outleveled sixth-ranked Al Wehda 97-69. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 28-point difference proves that Al Taawoun was well-prepared to that game. Serbian power forward Aleksandar Marelja (207-1992) had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Darious Clark (193-1990, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Domantay Sports) chipped in 29 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Clark is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Al Taawoun players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Husam Bagdadi responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the former international center Mohammed AlMarwani (206-1989) scored 15 points. Al Taawoun (4-18) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Al Ansar. Al Wehda at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost.
