Regular Season Round 40: Anyang - Wonju DB 76-71
Date: March 26, 2023
There was no surprise when 6th ranked Wonju DB (22-28) was defeated on the road by first ranked Anyang (37-15) 76-71 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Strangely Wonju DB outrebounded Anyang 44-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Anyang made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American Omari Spellman (207-1997, college: Villanova) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Junhyeong Byeon (186-1996) who added 18 points and 5 assists during the contest. Anyang's coach Seung-Ki Kim used entire bench in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Lennard Freeman (203-1995, college: NC State) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward SangJae Kang (202-1994) scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Anyang maintains first position with 37-15 record. Loser Wonju DB dropped to the seventh place with 28 games lost. Anyang will meet Goyang (#5) in the next round. Wonju DB will play against Seoul Knights and hope to secure a win.
