Regular Season Round 46: Ryukyu GK - Sendai 89ers 75-70

There was no surprise in Okinawa where 6th ranked Sendai 89ers (15-30) were defeated by second ranked Ryukyu GK (36-9) 75-70 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Ryukyu GK made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Power forward Josh Duncan (203-1986) chipped in 24 points and 9 rebounds. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Rashawn Thomas (203-1994, college: TAMUCC) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and Nathan Boothe (206-1994, college: Toledo) added 9 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ryukyu GK have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 36-9 record having just seven point less than leader Shimane SM. Newly promoted Sendai 89ers keep the sixth place with 30 games lost. They share the position with Ibaraki R.. Ryukyu GK will meet league's leader Chiba Jets on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sendai 89ers will play against FE Nagoya (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
