Regular Season Round 39: LG Sakers - KoGas 83-79
Date: March 23, 2023
Very expected game in Changwon where 9th ranked KoGas (17-34) were defeated by second ranked LG Sakers (35-17) 83-79 on Thursday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was Egyptian center Assem Marei (206-1992, college: MSU) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). The former international point guard Jae-Do Lee (180-1991) chipped in 24 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Murphy Holloway (201-1990, college: Ole Miss, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import power forward Devon Scott (206-1994, college: Dayton) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four KoGas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. LG Sakers maintains second place with 35-17 record behind leader Anyang. KoGas lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 34 games lost. LG Sakers will meet at home Seoul Knights (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. KoGas will play against Seoul Thunders (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
