Very expected game in Baghdad where 6th ranked Iraqi Al Naft (2-4) was defeated by second ranked Iranian Gorgan (4-1) 101-91 on Wednesday. Gorgan outrebounded Al Naft 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Behnam Yakhchali (196-1995, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Mohammad Jamshidi (199-1991, agency: BIG) chipped in 25 points and 7 assists. Five Gorgan players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Antwaine Wiggins (203-1988, college: Charleston) with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and American-Dominican forward Edgar Sosa (190-1988, college: Louisville) scored 34 points (!!!). The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Gorgan. Defending Iranian champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Beirut Club. Defending Iraqi champion Al Naft keeps the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Al Nassr.
