Date: March 21, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked ChelSU (7-20) was outscored by third ranked Almaty L. (23-4) in Kostanay 89-55 on Tuesday. Almaty L. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to ChelSU's 30. Almaty L. forced 22 ChelSU turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists comparing to just 22 passes made by ChelSU's players. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Daniil Severgin (183-2005) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 6 rebounds and 17 assists. Center Daniel Albrant (205-1998) accounted for 24 points (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Guard Artem Pedko (191-2000) came up with 13 points and swingman Artem Fedotov (195-2005) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for ChelSU in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Almaty L.. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Bars. ChelSU lost their fifth game in a row. ChelSU at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with 20 games lost.
