Regular Season Round 22: Al Riyadi - Antranik 108-83

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Beirut: Al Riyadi (#4) and Antranik (#6). Al Riyadi (16-3) smashed visiting Antranik (7-11) by 25 points 108-83. They outrebounded Antranik 44-24 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Riyadi players were unselfish on offense dishing 35 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Antranik's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Hayk Gyokchyan (203-1990, college: F&M) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Egyptian center Ismail Moneim (205-1976) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. American guard Jordan Jackson (190-1997, college: UTRGV) replied with 27 points and 4 assists and point guard Joel Abdallah (182-1997) added 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Antranik. Antranik's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Al Riyadi have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 16-3 record. Antranik at the other side keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. Al Riyadi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Sagesse.
