Regular Season Round 25: Himeji E. - Mitsubishi K. 74-77

Thirteenth-ranked Himeji E. (4-21) gave a tough game to third ranked Mitsubishi K. (19-6). The visitors from Nagoya managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Mitsubishi K. made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Himeji E.'s players. The former international center Risa Nishioka (186-1997) nailed 29 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side and the former international Yuka Kosuge (181-1991) accounted for 11 points and 12 rebounds. Minami Shirasaki (166-1996) came up with 32 points and 5 rebounds and Shiori Higuchi (175-1999) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Himeji E. in the defeat. Himeji E.'s coach Yoshihiko Iyoda tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Mitsubishi K. maintains third place with 19-6 record having just three points less than leader Toyota A. Himeji E. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 21 games lost. Mitsubishi K. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Himeji E. will play again at home against Mitsubishi K. (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
